When I first moved to Oregon, I was at a PTA function with my kids, and asked the lady at the refreshment table for a drink. She looked a little shocked and said to me "I'm sorry, Miss, but alcohol is prohibited from school functions."

1Prior to the mid 1980's in rural North Carolina if someone asked for a "pop" they were more likely to get hit in the head than to get a soda-pop. Noone that I knew asked if you wanted a soft drink in any other way but to say "Ya'll run to the store and pick up some "Dranks"...In South Georgia...It was, and still is Ya'll want a "coke"....and when you say yeah...they say "What Kind"...Orange Grape Etc...Times and words certainly have changed in the past 30 years with the "Mobile Generation, and Population increase.
